Belgium faces a shift in employment towards service occupations and sectors, combined with a
decrease of employment in the industrial and agricultural sectors affecting mostly middle-level jobs.

While the share of high-educated individuals in the working age population is above the
EU average, a large proportion remains low-educated.

Participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education subjects is below the
EU average, as is proficiency in problem solving in technology-rich environments (below OECD
average).

Skill shortages within IT domains may be expected.
